Stem Cell Therapy for Arthritis in Los Angeles

Arthritis pain and stiffness can wear you down a little more each year. Stem Cells LA offers non-surgical stem cell therapy for arthritis in the knees, hips, shoulders and other joints from our clinic at 1970 S Prospect Ave, Suite #2, in Redondo Beach, serving patients across Los Angeles and the South Bay.

Types of Arthritis We See

  • Osteoarthritis: the most common type, where the cartilage that cushions a joint wears down over time. It is the main reason patients ask about stem cell therapy for arthritis.
  • Post-traumatic arthritis: arthritis that develops in a joint after an old injury, such as a sports injury or fracture.
  • Rheumatoid and other inflammatory arthritis: these are autoimmune conditions. We evaluate them differently, alongside your rheumatologist’s care. See stem cell therapy for autoimmune disease.

Our guide to arthritis vs osteoarthritis explains the differences in more detail.

How Stem Cell Therapy for Arthritis Works

We use allograft stem cells from donated umbilical cords. The cord blood is processed into a solution containing mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), other supporting cells, exosomes, cytokines and growth factors. MSCs release signaling molecules associated with lower inflammation and tissue repair, and they can develop into cartilage and bone cells.

The solution is injected into the affected joint. The aim is to reduce the inflammation that drives arthritis pain and stiffness and to support the joint’s own repair, so you can stay active with less pain. Whether stem cells can rebuild worn cartilage is still being studied, and results vary, so we go over the evidence for your joint before you decide.

Stem Cell Therapy vs Other Arthritis Treatments

Arthritis care usually starts with weight management, exercise, physical therapy and anti-inflammatory medication. Cortisone injections can ease a flare, though relief is often temporary. Joint replacement surgery is an option for advanced arthritis but means surgery and a long recovery.

Stem cell therapy for arthritis is an injection-based option for people with mild to moderate arthritis who are not getting enough relief and want to avoid or delay surgery. It is not a cure for arthritis and does not replace joint replacement when the joint is severely worn.

What to Expect

1. Consultation

We review your joints, imaging, past treatments and the activities you want to keep doing.

2. A plan for each joint

If stem cell therapy fits, we explain which joints to treat first and how many sessions to expect.

3. Injection visit

Treatment is done in our Redondo Beach clinic, with no surgery and no general anesthesia.

4. Follow-up

Most patients have little to no downtime. We follow your progress and adjust the plan.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

The best candidates usually have mild to moderate osteoarthritis or post-traumatic arthritis in one or a few joints, are in reasonable general health, and have not had enough relief from conservative care. Severe, bone-on-bone arthritis may be better served by a surgeon. A consultation is the only way to know whether stem cell therapy for arthritis makes sense for you.

Why Los Angeles Patients Choose Stem Cells LA for Stem Cell Therapy for Arthritis

  • Honest answers: we tell you when we think stem cell therapy is unlikely to help, and when another specialist is the better next step.
  • A regenerative medicine clinic, not a research center: our patient blog cites third-party scientific sources so you can check the research yourself.
  • Ethically sourced allograft cells: donated umbilical cord stem cells, with no harvesting procedure from your own bone marrow or fat.
  • Easy to reach from across Los Angeles: our Redondo Beach clinic is open seven days a week, with weekend appointments for people who work during the week.

Many of our arthritis patients in Los Angeles want to stay active, keep working or delay a joint replacement for as long as possible. We plan treatment around the joints that limit you most and are clear about what stem cell therapy for arthritis can and cannot do.

Preparing for Arthritis Treatment and Recovery Afterward

Bring recent X-rays or MRI reports for the joints that bother you most, a list of medications and a short history of past treatments, including physical therapy, cortisone or gel injections. If you take blood thinners, anti-inflammatory medication or medication for an autoimmune condition, tell us at booking so we can plan safely.

After an arthritis injection, most patients return to normal daily activity within a day or two. We often suggest low-impact movement such as walking, cycling or swimming while you build back, along with any exercise program from your physical therapist. Changes in arthritis pain and stiffness usually build gradually over weeks to months, and we review your progress before planning any further sessions.
